Resource Geologist and Geostatistician
Dr. Adeli is a committed and innovative Resource Geologist and Geostatistician with over 17 years of industry and research experience across Australia, Chile and Iran. He has worked extensively in gold, copper and iron ore resources, specializing in mineral resource evaluation, domaining, uncertainty modelling, machine learning, geostatistical simulation and geometallurgical modelling. His studies, knowledge and industry experience in conducting multi-disciplinary projects has equipped him to make significant contributions in the areas of resource estimation, quantifying ore stream variability, geological and geometallurgical domaining, updating resource knowledge with sensor data, and reducing variability to enhance mill feed certainty.
Most recently, he worked as a Resource Geologist Consultant at RSC in Perth, Australia. In this role, he was involved in various geological modelling and resource estimation projects worldwide. Prior to RSC, he was a Resource Geologist Consultant at Superior Gold Inc. (now Catalyst Metals) in Western Australia.
His previous role as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, had required him to work on numerous projects in a $14.6 million research consortium “Unlocking Complex Resources through Lean Processing”. He was collaborating with OZ Minerals experts to combine machine learning algorithms and geostatistics for geological and geometallurgical modelling at Prominent Hill mine. In addition, he was working on quantifying uncertainty in resource domain boundaries and validation of geological loggings by combining multivariate spatial modelling with machine learning.
Before pursuing his PhD, Dr. Adeli gained over eight years of industry experience in Iran, working with mining companies such as National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO). His responsibilities included supervising data generation and ensuring data quality and integrity, conducting data analysis for mineral resource evaluation, performing QA/QC analysis of drilling results, geostatistical resource evaluations, modelling uncertainty for NICICO's copper deposits, compiling resource and reserve numbers, and designing optimal drilling programs for resource delineation and grade control.
Dr. Adeli holds a PhD in Geostatistics from Universidad de Chile, and both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Mineral Exploration Engineering from the University of Tehran, Iran. His work has been published and presented in prestigious international journals and conferences. Additionally, Dr. Adeli has experience supervising and co-supervising PhD and postgraduate students, as well as lecturing geostatistics courses for postgraduate mining engineering students.
